biography

Caroline Munro Born in England on January 16, 1949, beautiful scream queen Caroline Munro had early aspirations of being an artist. However, when her mother and a photographer friend entered her photo in a contest, she won; this led to a modeling assignment with Vogue magazine. Her modeling career flourished in 1966 and 1967. The leggy, brown-eyed brunette also found work as an extra in such films as Casino Royale (1967; with Peter Sellers and David Niven) and Joanna (1968; with Donald Sutherland). Munro's modeling career stayed strong, but her acting career didn't really get off the ground until the early 1970s. After appearing uncredited in The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971; with Vincent Price and Joseph Cotten) and its sequel Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972; with with Vincent Price) as Phibes' wife Victoria, Munro signed a contract with Hammer Films, Britain's premier horror film studio.

Caroline Munro At Hammer, Munro acted in the films Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972; with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing) and Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1973; with Horst Janson and Ian Hendry). Upon leaving Hammer, she starred in The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1974; with John Phillip Law) but otherwise stayed with the horror and science fiction genres in such films as I Don't Want to Be Born (1975; with Joan Collins and Donald Pleasence), At the Earth's Core (1976; with Doug McClure and Peter Cushing), and Starcrash (1979; with Marjoe Gortner and David Hasselhoff). However, audiences likely remember Munro best as Bond girl Naomi in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977; with Roger Moore and Barbara Bach).

Munro married actor/producer Judd Hamilton in 1970, and the couple parted ways in 1982. Munro married director George Dugdale in 1990 and the couple had two daughters in the early 1990s. Afterward, she put her career on the back burner for a number of years but is now working again. Caroline Munro appears in film on occasion and dabbles in music, in addition to making personal appearances at a number of horror conventions. Her most recent films are The Pocket Film of Superstitions (2023) and The Presence of Snowgood (2023), and and at 75 Munro is as beautiful as ever. Sadly, Munro's husband George passed away in 2020.
